Oak Brook Polo Club Hosts 8-Goal Tournament at Prince of Wales Field

Oak Brook Polo Club heads into its 97th season as one of the nation's oldest polo clubs in operation today. In releasing the 2019 schedule, Oak Brook Polo will play host totwoUSPA sanctioned 8-goal tournaments --the newly formed Oak Brook Polo Open (July 3-July 14) and prestigiousChicago Polo Open (August 7-18), presented by Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse.
Bothtournaments are organized in association with the8-Goal League and newly formed Chicago Polo Association (Chicago Polo) and will feature some of the best polo teams and players in the Midwest. Chicago Polo is a recognized member of the U.S. Polo Association (USPA) which consists of clubs, players, and field owners working in cooperation to promote the sport of polo in the greater Chicago area. The 8-Goal League will feature five tournamentsbetween June 28th to August 25th with USPA certified umpires. Confirmed teams include:G-Squared | GoPolo, Morgan Creek Polo, Oak Brook Polo Club, and Passion for Polo with potential participation from teams in Minnesota, Kentucky and Missouri.
“These events will mark the first time, in nearly two decades, that Oak Brook willbe the host club of competitive polo tournaments, and we couldn’t be more excited,” explains Danny O’Leary, Managing Director of Oak Brook Polo Club. “Chicago’s polo playing community is growing and there are number of players working their way through theranks to play a higher level of polo. We want to invite interested teams from the Midwest and around the country to experience the growing popularity of the sport.”
Each tournament’s finals and consolation match will be held at Oak Brook Polo Club’shistoric Prince of Wales Field located at 2606 York Field in Oak Brook. Preliminary matches will be held at polo clubs in the surrounding areas.
